MPEG1
Standard for video and audio compression used for the manufacture of VCD. Type NTSC, has a video resolution of 352 × 240 pixels at 29.97 fps (frames per second). For PAL, the resolution is 352 × 288 pixels with 25 fps.
MPEG2
An outgrowth of MPEG1. Standard for video and audio compression used for the manufacture of DVDs. Type NTSC DVD, have a video resolution of 720 × 480 pixels at 29.97 fps. For PAL DVDs, working on a resolution of 720 × 576 pixels with 25 fps.
